
The mitzvah is preformed with three myrtle branches.
A kosher myrtle branch will have a pattern of three leaves coming out from the same point in the branch. This pattern has to be repeated over throughout half the length of the branch.
The branches must be at least 11 inches long.
The branch should be kept as fresh as possible. In order to keep the branches fresh it is recommended to put them in a water vase (not more than 3 inches)
